Founded in 2024, Jardar (ճարտար), meaning ‘ingenious’ in Armenian, is a registered NGO established by Shant Charoian to advance architectural thinking across Armenia. Rooted in the Armenian word ճարտարապետ (architect), Jardar leads initiatives that challenge conventional approaches to the built environment and inspire new forms of spatial agency. Our work includes The Oshakan Project, a hands-on platform for sustainable, heritage-informed construction, and Line Armenian Architecture Biennial, successfully launched in 2025 as a nomadic festival reimagining public spaces through installations, exhibitions, and community-driven programs.

As Armenia undergoes rapid construction and faces increasing threats to its architectural heritage, Jardar advocates for alternative futures grounded in adaptive reuse, material responsibility, and community engagement. Through workshops, collaborations, and public events across the country, we equip emerging designers with the tools, knowledge, and confidence to rethink the role of architecture today. Jardar empowers the next generation to shape a more sustainable, inclusive, and imaginative built environment for Armenia.
